Nanya Technology Unveils First 20nm 8GB DDR4 DRAM

Nanya Technology has unveiled its first homegrown 8Gb DDR (Double Data Rate) 4 DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) using 20nm process technology that has recognized by its PC customers and set to begin shipments some time in December 2017, the Economic Daily News reported on December 18. After entering the specialty DRAM market for many years, the company has now decided to re-enter the standard DRAM market for PC and then server DRAM around the Lunar Chinese New Year next year. Other than Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron, Nanya is another company capable of producing 8Gb DDR4 DRAM using 20nm process technology. The company's 20nm DRAM capacity is to hit about 38,000 in this quarter, accounting for about 50% of the total outputs. Aside from PC and server markets, Nanya stated that it will also focus on AI applications, HD (High Resolution) smart TVs, and advanced STBs (Set Top Boxes).
